(1) 28% GST duty may be applied to online gaming: Panel

According to sources, the panel of state finance ministers is expected to suggest a standard GST rate of 28%, regardless of whether online gaming is a game of skill or chance.

The Group of Ministers (GoM), led by the chief minister of Meghalaya, Conrad Sangma, had previously recommended a 28% GST on the complete value of the consideration, including the contest entry fee, paid by the player, without making a distinction like games of skill or chance. However, the GoM was urged to reevaluate its findings by the Council.

The GoM then met with stakeholders in the online gambling business and considered the Attorney General’s opinions.

(2) Australia’s parliament passes a free trade agreement with India; to implement a mutually convenient date

The Australian parliament has approved the free trade agreement (FTA) between India and Australia.

Officials stated on Tuesday that the India-Australia Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (AI-ECTA) would now go into effect on a mutually convenient date following the approval.

In accordance with the FTA, Australia will give India duty-free access to around 96.4% (by value) of its exports. In Australia right now, many of these products are subject to a 4-5% customs charge.

The Indian perspective will result in huge gains for a number of labor-intensive industries like textiles and clothing, some agricultural and fish products, leather, footwear, furniture, sporting items, jewelry, machinery, electrical goods, and railroad carriages.

(3) International arrivals no longer require Air Suvidha form from November 22

There would no longer be a requirement for foreign visitors entering India to fill up the Air Suvidha self-declaration form for COVID-19-related passenger screening. Additionally, travelers will not be needed to provide negative COVID-19 RT-PCR certificate.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare released updated standards for international arrivals, and these relaxations take effect from November 22. According to the recommendations, it is preferable for all travellers to have received all recommended vaccinations according to their country’s primary vaccination schedule against COVID-19.

(4) India Leads The World In The Concentration Of AI Talent: 2022 Network Readiness Index

India tops the list globally for AI talent concentration and is ranked 61st overall in the recently released Network Readiness Index 2022. India has advanced six positions in the most current version of 2022. The poll ranks 131 economies, which collectively account for almost 95% of global GDP (GDP). The Netherlands, which is placed fourth, is surpassed by the United States as the most network-ready society.

The ranking is determined by how well each country performed in relation to 58 varying components in the categories of technology, people, government, and effect. According to NRI 2022, the developed economies of North America, parts of Asia and the Pacific, and Europe are among the nations with the best network readiness.

(5) The largest iPhone manufacturing facility, with 60,000 jobs, coming up near Hosur: Vaishnaw

The largest manufacturing facility to produce Apple’s iPhone in India is being set up at Hosur, close to Bengaluru. One factory will be employing 60,000 people.

According to  IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw,   tribal women, from areas close to Ranchi and Hazaribagh, who have received training to create Apple iPhones make up the first 6,000 of the 60,000 employees. 

Tata Electronics, which has a factory in Hosur, is the company Apple has hired to manufacture iPhone enclosures.
