Battery swapping policy stagnant as companies resist standardization
電動車業者拒標準化 電池交換政策遇瓶頸
The government’s plans to implement a battery swapping policy, which aimed to make charging electric vehicles (EV) as quick as refueling conventional vehicles, have stalled due to intense industry opposition to the interoperability standards proposed in the draft scheme.
Battery swapping scheme was first proposed by the finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman in her budget speech in February 2022, and Niti Aayog quickly produced a formal policy in April of that same year.
Because they would have had to redesign their current infrastructure and production-ready prototypes to suit the new standardized specifications, companies lobbied against the scheme’s primary interoperability concept. The EV industry tried to eliminate some interoperability-related clauses from the policy after numerous delays in finalizing the policy.

Restrictions on placing 5G orders with Chinese vendors for Indian telcos
印度政府禁止電信業者向中國採購5G科技
Indian telecom operators will not be able to place any 5G network management orders with Chinese gear makers ZTE and Huawei even though they can still take their help with upgrading the existing 4G networks. These Chinese companies developed the 4G networks of all telcos, with the exception of Reliance Jio.
According to the research, the restriction placed on Chinese companies will help domestic gear manufacturers become a competitive option in the market.
If a telecom company wants to upgrade their network with equipment from vendors who are not recognized as reliable sources, they must first get permission from the National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS).

Early in 2022, both companies submitted an application for government subsidies under the $10 billion Indian Semiconductor Mission; but, the government has yet to approve it and opened a new round of submissions earlier this month.
